Meet Dr. J

Expertise, Experience, Understanding

I'd love to help you make the college search, choice, and admissions journey a success!

I can help you navigate the complex, often confusing path that leads to college choice and admission. With 23 years in college student affairs and 15 years in local middle and high schools, I create one-on-one relationships with young people and parents as they make the most exciting, but daunting, transition of their lives.

I am an expert.

One of about twenty Certified Educational Planners in Pennsylvania, and among only 350 nationwide.

Member NACAC, PACAC, and Professional Member IECA, all of which set high standards for the training and ethical practice of their membership.

Doctorate (Higher Education); Masters (Counseling); Certificate (Educational Consulting)
Former Adjunct Faculty Messiah College (Higher Education Masters program)
Pennsylvania Teacher Certification (Secondary social studies & secondary counseling)

I'm experienced.

Student Affairs: Dickinson College, Bethany College, Salve Regina University, and West Virginia University, working with Residence Life, Freshman Orientation, Student Conduct Boards, and Greek Life.

College Teaching: Dickinson, Bethany, WVU, Indiana University-Bloomington, and Messiah College.

Secondary Education: Gifted & talented students (middle & high school) in Cumberland and Perry Counties, PA. Advised National Honor Society, coached Quiz Bowl teams (League Champions), and judged National History Day projects.

I understand.

As the mother of two college grads, I have been up-close-and-personal with the FAFSA, the Common Application, and sent my kid off to study abroad. I have successfully loaded all of my 18-year-old daughter's most prized possessions into a Honda Fit. I've been on the receiving end of tearful midnight phone calls, and wiped my own tears as I watched the awarding of diplomas.

As both a military child and a military spouse, I attended 13 different schools before I left for college, and have worked with GI Bill benefits, Yellow Ribbon programs, and transcripts in foreign languages.

Of course, if you're someone who always reads the fine print, you can view my entire resume here.

"Dr. J helped me immensely during the college admissions process. What's more, she taught me a lot about how to think critically during high school - and that has been the single most valuable skill that I've used during the rest of my education. I really can't recommend her enough!"
